1 - What is ABA therapy, and how does it help my child?

At its heart, ABA is the science of how we learn and grow. Our approach focuses on helping your child find their voice, build meaningful friendships, and master the daily skills that lead to independence. By breaking down big milestones into small, “win-able” steps, we create a customized path that celebrates your child’s unique personality while gently reducing the obstacles that get in their way.

2 - Is ABA therapy play-based, or is it just sitting at a desk?

We believe that therapy should meet your child where they are. Our sessions are designed to be engaging, natural, and play-based whenever clinically appropriate, while still building the communication, social, and daily living skills that help children grow.

3 - What are the unique benefits of an in-center environment?

We believe that therapy should meet your child where they are. While In-Home Therapy is a wonderful way to master daily routines in a familiar, comfortable space, our In-Center Programs offer a vibrant “micro-community” designed to accelerate specific milestones.

Why Families Choose Our Center:

  • A Socially Rich Environment: Unlike home sessions, the center provides a safe, supervised space for your child to practice peer interactions in real-time.
  • Specialized Sensory & Play Spaces: Our facility is a “living classroom” equipped with specialized sensory tools and diverse play environments that are not always available at home.
  • Collaborative, Real-Time Care: In the center, your child’s therapist has immediate, face-to-face access to our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs).
  • A Bridge to School Readiness: We focus on transitions and school-readiness activities to prepare your child for the next big step.
4 - How does Family Guidance Support our journey, and why is it important?

Think of Family Guidance as the bridge between our center and your daily life. While your child learns new skills with us, these sessions are a dedicated time for us to partner with you. We share the progress your child is making and coach you on the exact strategies we use so that those successes translate seamlessly to your dinner table, the grocery store, and beyond.

We prioritize this because you are the most important person in your child’s world. Research consistently shows that when caregivers are active partners in therapy, children achieve their milestones significantly faster and maintain those skills longer.

5 - Who will be working with my child?

When your child joins our program, they are not just getting a therapist; they are gaining a dedicated support team. We use a “tiered” approach to care, which ensures that every hour of therapy is backed by high-level clinical expertise and consistent, one-on-one interaction.

Your Child’s Support Team:

  • The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA): Your Clinical Architect. The BCBA is a master’s-level professional who oversees the big picture of your child’s care, from conducting assessments to designing customized goals.
  • The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT): Your Daily Champion. The RBT is the dedicated therapist who works one-on-one with your child, bringing their personalized learning plan to life through engagement and play.

How it all comes together:

  • The BCBA designs the map and mentors the team.
  • The RBT is the daily guide who walks the path with your child.
  • The family is the heart of the journey.
  • Together, this team ensures progress is consistent, data-driven, and full of heart.
6 - How many hours of therapy will my child need?

Determining the right amount of therapy is a collaborative, science-based process. Every child’s journey begins with a comprehensive assessment conducted by our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

During this assessment, the BCBA evaluates your child’s unique strengths and needs to provide a formal clinical recommendation.

Following established clinical standards, we typically recommend one of two paths:

  • Comprehensive ABA (30–40 hours/week): An intensive approach often recommended for younger children to address multiple areas like language, social play, and self-care.
  • Focused ABA (10–25 hours/week): Targeted support for children who are working on a few specific goals, such as social skills or specific daily routines.

Our goal is to provide the support necessary for a life-changing impact while ensuring your child still has plenty of time for rest, family, and just being a kid.

7 - What does the “Intake Process” look like?

We aim to make your start with us as stress-free as possible. Our onboarding follows a simple four-step roadmap designed to handle the heavy lifting for you:

Step 1: Insurance & Benefits. We take care of the fine print. Our team works directly with your provider to verify coverage and secure authorizations.

Step 2: The Clinical Assessment. You and your child will meet with a BCBA for a warm, play-based evaluation.

Step 3: Your Personalized Plan. We present a customized treatment plan for your review.

Step 4: Start Therapy! Once the plan is approved, we match your child with a dedicated RBT and set your start date.

8 - Does my child need to have a specific diagnosis to start ABA?

To utilize insurance coverage for ABA therapy, a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from a qualified professional, such as a Pediatrician, Neurologist, or Psychologist, is required.

If you are just beginning this journey or are currently on a waitlist for an evaluation, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We can provide you with a curated list of local diagnostic resources and specialists to help you take that next step.

9 - How do you support children through challenging moments or behaviors?

We view all behavior as a form of communication. When a child experiences emotional dysregulation or frustration, they are often trying to express that they feel overwhelmed or that a need is not being met. Our team focuses on understanding the “why” behind these moments.

Instead of simply focusing on the behavior itself, we focus on teaching your child a more effective way to communicate their needs and navigate their environment.

This includes:

  • Functional Communication: Giving your child the tools to ask for what they need before frustration builds.
  • Coping Strategies: Teaching personalized self-regulation skills, such as taking a break, using deep pressure, or finding a quiet space.
  • Replacement Skills: Identifying the underlying need and teaching a safer, more independent way to meet it.
  • Respectful support: Our approach is always rooted in safety, dignity, and deep respect for your child’s unique way of experiencing the world.
10 - Can my child still receive Speech or Occupational Therapy while doing ABA?

We believe that a whole-child approach is the most effective way to support meaningful growth. Your child’s journey often involves multiple specialists, and we thrive on being part of that larger team.

We actively collaborate with outside Speech (SLP) and Occupational Therapy (OT) providers to ensure a seamless, wrap-around support system.

  • Goal Alignment: We communicate with your other therapists to ensure we are all rowing in the same direction.
  • Skill Consistency: We work together to ensure the strategies used in Speech or OT are reinforced during your child’s hours at our center.
  • Comprehensive Care: By sharing insights and data with outside providers, we create a unified front that accelerates progress across every environment.

Our goal is to ensure that your child’s different therapies feel like one cohesive plan, rather than separate appointments.
